GHOST IN CONCERT:

When it comes to blood-curdling black metal spectacle, few bands hold a candle to Swedish rockers GHOST. Taking the stage in skull makeup, grim reaper robes, and a motley assortment of demonic masks, GHOST leads fans on an unflinching tour of the underworld, unleashing hard-hitting yet melodic tunes like "Cirice" and "He Is" with their signature doom-laden pomp and circumstance. Frontman Papa Emeritas III's spooky croon recalls a young Ozzy Osbourne, and the rest of the band—known simply as the Nameless Ghouls—furthers the comparison, kicking out their psychedelic rock-influenced sound with the tightness and precision of metal legends like Black Sabbath. It's not for the faint of heart, but that's precisely the point—and GHOST's legions of loyal fans wouldn't have it any other way.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

GHOST formed in Linkoping, Sweden in the late '00s and forged their sound from a shared love of horror movies and Scandinavian metal traditions. They made their debut in 2010 with the track "Elizabeth" and quickly followed up with their first album Opus Eponymous, a critical success that earned a Swedish Grammi nomination in 2011 for Best Hard Rock Album. After extensive touring including a 2012 leg in the US, GHOST released their 2013 sophomore LP Infestissumam to a No. 1 spot on the Swedish charts and another round of critical praise. The record kicked off a massive world tour that included high-profile performances at festivals like Download and Lollapalooza, where audiences ate up the band's ghoulish live shows. GHOST's rise continued in 2015 with their third album Meliora, a Top 10 hit on the US Billboard 200 that has stateside fans dying to see the band perform their morbid tunes in the flesh.
