Rialto Theatre and 191 Toole Bag Policy

Rialto Theatre & 191 Toole’s clear bag policy as of 3/1/22

To provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite fan entry into our venues, Rialto Theatre & 191 Toole have instituted a clear bag policy.

The policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into our venues. The following is a list of bags that will be accepted for entry:

  • Bags that are clear plastic or vinyl and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags, approximately 5” x 7”

All bags subject to search.
Clear bags are available for sale at the box office.

The New Sound at 191 Toole

Over the years, 191 Toole has hosted some incredible performances including Black Pumas, Wet Leg, Phoebe Bridgers, and so many more. Whether you’re a local musician heading up the ladder of the Tucson music scene, a brand new up-and-coming artist making waves, or a beloved performer with decades of touring under your belt, you’ve probably been to the Rialto Theatre’s sister venue. Thanks to a state-of-the-art upgrade to the PA sound system, every live musician and their fans are leveling up their concert experience at 191 Toole.

“We already had a great sound system at 191 Toole, it was state of the art in the 90’s and 2000’s,” said John Zwick, head audio engineer at the Rialto Theatre and 191 Toole. With improvements in audio technology in recent years, upgrading the sound quality at 191 Toole became a priority. “Here we are over 20 years later and certain components of the PA were tired and in constant need of repair,” Zwick continued. “The new JBL mains, subwoofers and power-amps with digital processing are a significant and welcomed upgrade to the venue.”

Under the stewardship of the Rialto Theatre Foundation, 191 Toole and the Rialto Theatre are committed to providing top-tier concert going experiences for everyone in the community. Rialto Executive Director Cathy Rivers opted to find the perfect new PA system – and the local partner – who could help us navigate this installation.

191 Toole turned to Arizona Pro Sound, a respected local audio and event company with decades of experience in the industry. Arizona Pro Sound handled the intricate installation venue while ensuring the historic preservation needs of the century-old building. “191 Toole is a space that means so much to Tucson, and being trusted to upgrade its sound was a responsibility we took seriously,” said Arizona Pro Sound’s Senior Technical Director Sam Eagon.

“[191 Toole] has been a place where Tucson’s music community comes alive. Being part of this install means more than just putting in gear. It’s about making sure every band, from local up-and-comers to national acts, has the chance to be heard the way they deserve. As someone who grew up in this scene, it’s an honor to give back in this way,” Eagon continued.

With the help of the Arizona Pro Sound team and Rialto’s audio engineers, the installation was completed in just three days, ensuring the venue did not have too much downtime between shows. “We’re just kicking off the busy season and that means an average of four to five concerts at Toole each week,” said Kris Kerry, talent buyer for the Rialto Theatre and 191 Toole. “It was the perfect time and team to make the upgrade.”

Audiences can already hear the difference in sound quality, but audio professionals will recognize the high-quality equipment chosen to best suit the 500-person venue. The new mains are comprised of four bi-amped JBL AM7315/64’s being driven by a Powersoft X4 Power-amp, and the sub array is a total of four front-loaded JBL ASB7128’s, which are being driven by a Powersoft X8.
“We strive to give our guests the very best live music around. With our sound system completely upgraded at 191 Toole, the venue is better than ever.”

Come come hear the new sound system at 191 Toole for yourself at one of our upcoming concerts!
