Welcome to the Rialto Theatre Foundation and ICCU’s new, interactive fundraising mural by Tucson artist Jessica Gonzales!

The Rialto Theatre is excited to share that we are partnering with ICCU to bring a one-of-a-kind public art experience to life. Designed and painted by celebrated local mural artist Jessica Gonzales, this mural installation invites everyone to pause, look closer, and experience a familiar space in an entirely new way.

This mural is more than a beautiful painting on our wall.

Guests are invited to use their smartphone to unlock a new augmented reality (AR) experience during their next concert or journey through downtown Tucson. Layered with interactive elements, this mural artwork comes alive, offering our visitors the opportunity to support The Rialto in a new and inspiring way. We are excited to extend the opportunity for everyone to show your support for the ongoing mission of the Rialto Theatre Foundation while forefronting the public art that makes Tucson such a vibrant and colorful city.

To participate, you can scan the QR code beside the mural, allow camera access and play a simple game. The experience is free for participants. Each participant’s first completed game of the day helps direct $10 from ICCU to the Rialto Theatre Foundation, up to a total of $10,000.

The combination of public art and accessible technology reflects ICCU’s approach to member service, pairing state-of-the-art technology with personalized, in-person support. Giving back is at the heart of what ICCU does and they wanted this project to feel like Tucson, Jessica’s work puts the Rialto at the center, and the game gives people a simple way to take part in ICCU’s contribution to the foundation.

We want to thank our generous partner ICCU in this effort for sparking curiosity, connecting with the Tucson community, supporting the arts, and giving our independent venue the opportunity to bring cutting edge technology to our city’s arts scene. As a sponsor of the Rialto Theatre, ICCU receives mural space at the venue and rather than use that space just for ICCU branding, the credit union decided to spotlight the foundation and its work.

We can’t to share this incredible AR mural experience with everyone. The next time you are at a Rialto concert, sipping a drink at R Bar, on a mural tour throughout town, or just have a minute to scan while you’re downtown, we hope that you do! Each day you play this mural’s AR game is a $10 donation to Tucson’s local, independent, and historic Rialto Theatre venue. Your dedication to keeping the Rialto Theatre rocking makes projects like this possible!
